How to Check in Books

1. There are two book drops in the LRC--one on each floor
2. Go to a desk with a book drop and pull the book drop bin out until you can access the books
3. Open Follet library software (See tutorial)
4. Click on the circulation tab at the top of the screen
5. Click 'Check In' on the left

6. Scan the library barcode located inside the item
7. Make sure that the title of the item that appears on the screen matches the title of the item in your hand
8. Look for any pop-up notices
  • If a notice appears indicating that the item contains multiple parts, count each part to ensure that all items are there
  • If a notice appears indicating that the book was marked as lost, no action needs to be taken
  • If a notice appears indicating that the item is on hold for a patron, write down the name of the patron and give the item to Tessa or Erica
  • If any other notices appear, write down what the notice says and give the item to Tessa or Erica

9. As you are checking in books, if you notice any that need repairs, a new label, or other attention place it on the appropriate shelf in the workroom or give the book to Tessa or Erica
10. When you have finished checking in an item, place it on a cart to be reshelved
