How to make new spine labels
- Go to the circulation tab
- Select 'Copy Status' from the left
- Scan the item's barcode
- Check that the title of the item and the title that appears on the screen match
- Select 'Edit Copy' from the right
- Check for the name of the author at the top of the screen
- Change the call number to show the author's full last name
- Click 'Save Copy' on the right
- Repeat this process with every item
- When the call numbers of each item have been changed, new labels need to be printed
- Select the 'Reports' tab at the top of the screen
- Select 'Library' on the left
- Click on the 'Spine/Pocket Labels' link
- Select 'Barcode List' from the 'Based on' drop-down box
- Scan the barcode of every item that needs a new spine label
- Make sure that the 'Start on label' box matches the first label on your label sheet if you are using a partially used sheet
- Check that all the other presets match those depicted below
- When you are done, click on 'Run Report' at the bottom
- Select 'Report Manager' from the left
- The jobs appear on the list chronologically, so the one you just created should be at the top
- Hit 'Refresh List' at the top if your job is still processing
- Once your job's status is 'Completed' you can select 'View' from the right to view the pdf with the labels
- Click on the print icon in the upper left corner
- Check that you are printing to the correct printer
- Make sure that there is no page scaling
- When you are ready to print, load the label paper into the printer and click 'OK'
- The labels will print out in call number order, not the order they were scanned
- Make sure to match up the book with the correct label (scan it into the computer to check if you are unsure)
- Place the label at the bottom of the spine
- Tear off a strip of tape
- Place the tape over the label and smooth down from the center out to the edges
- The book is now ready to be reshelved. Repeat with every item.
