We are happy to announce the results of our lower school favorite character vote! This tradition has been happening since 2011. At the end of the year, we read students books featuring the nominated characters then have them vote on their favorite. This year's nominees were Charlie & Mouse, Dinosaurs, Mercy Watson, Lola, and Madeline Finn. Students used a ranked choice method to vote for their top 3 picks. (You can see a sample ballot to the left.) With a record-breaking 427 points the clear winner was Mercy Watson! The runner-up was Madeline Finn with 320. Mercy is the second porcine winner, after Piggie (from the Mo Willems Piggie & Gerald series) All of the past winners met in the Dragon Room over the weekend for a crowning ceremony for Penguin.

But what exactly has Mercy won? That is where YOU come in! Mercy has won a fabulous vacation with all of us this summer! Print out Mercy's image to take a picture with him or send your vacation photos to eharney@mcds.org and I will add him in digitally. All the photos will be part of a display in the fall. This year's nominees were Bear & Mouse, Knuffle Bunny, Lilly, Mr. Panda, and Penguin. Students used a ranked choice method to vote for their top 3 picks. (You can see a sample ballot to the left.) With 359 points the clear winner was Penguin! The runner-up was Knuffle Bunny with 289. This continues a hot streak for penguins as a species. So far every time a penguin has been nominated, it has won. Past penguin winners are Tacky and Osbert. All of the past winners met in the Dragon Room over the weekend for a crowning ceremony for Penguin.
