Entering 7th graders have no written assignments due. However, here are three key points to remember:
- Keep a list of everything you read and feel free to read beyond the minimum two book requirement.
- Read the selections from the required text (Hungry Hearts) along with four of your choosing, at the end of the summer, so that it remains fresh in your memory for September. You will be discussing and writing about this book during the first weeks of school, and it is essential that you be prepared.
- Underline and flag significant passages from the book, looking for key moments in character and plot development and passages you find especially well written and interesting as well as any passages where you have questions. Look up words you don't know. Read actively.

Upper school students have access to Overdrive. This allows you to check out ebooks that can be read on your computer, iPad, Kindle, Nook, or other devices. To check them out, go to the Sora app or website. Just log in with Google and select your MCDS account.
