I really like this book because it is based on a girl who can't walk and can't talk. People don't treat her with the respect she deserves. She realizes that she is very smart and is able to store lots of information in her brain. She joins the school academic team and travels around competing with them. Unfortunately, they always exclude her, and she struggles to make friends. This book is a tear jerker, I love this book, and I hope you love it too. Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper Grades: 4-6 Tags: realistic fiction, tear jerker Reviewed by Adelaide W. I just finished this book and it was really good. It's super interesting and fun, even though it's not too fast-paced. It has some really cool futuristic ideas that I think lots of kids will think are awesome! It's an AMAZING book. The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers Grades: 7&8 Tags: science fiction Reviewed by Dimitri These are some books that are about a kid named Percy Jackson and he is having a really hard time in school. In addition, he finds out that he is a Greek demigod and that he is very powerful and special. This leads him to this Camp called camp half blood and he finds the place that he was meant for. Percy goes on many adventures with friends to defeat many evil monsters. This is an amazing series because it puts you on the edge of your seat and it is really compelling. Furthermore, you will love these books if you like learning about Greek mythology and you love fantasy. Lastly, this book had many turns and twits which made these books interesting. The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan Grades: 4-6 Tags: Fantasy Reviewed by Cael The Mechanical Mind of John Coggin is very fast paced and action packed. John (11) and his sister Page (I think 6 or 7) are orphans and live with their mean great aunt. Johns job is to make coffins, which he is particularly good at. They go on a trip to a beach for Johns eleventh birthday. John and Page decide to run away with a mysterious character named Boz. From there, John and Page go to many different places. This book is great for people who like action packed books, or people who like somewhat realistic fiction. The Mechanical Mind of John Coggin by Elinor Teele Grades 2-5 Tags: adventure, fast-paced Reviewed by Taylor I really like this book because it is based on a girl and her parents who immigrated to American from China. They end up running a motel owned by a man named Mr. Yao. The girl then goes to school and meets a friend named Lupe. Lupe's dad fixes the TV and internet at the motel. Mia (the girl) goes on many adventures throughout the book and there is never a dull moment with Mia and her friends. I love this book and I hope you love it too.
