Winter 2019 Projects
We're always working on projects in the library to make it easier for our community to use our collection and find what they are looking for. Here's what we've been working on lately.
ALA Youth Media Awards
The American Library Association has announced its Youth Media Award winners. This includes the Caldecott and Newbery as well as the Coretta Scott King, Pura Belpre, Stonewall, and many others. There's a lot of great books that have won. We have a display in the Dragon Room with all the winners we have in our library. Stop by to see who won, then check out the book!
We recently pulled the holiday books from our picture book collection and put them in their own special section on the endcap of the shelves. The books are sorted by which holiday they are about, then by author. This will make it much easier for anyone looking for a read aloud for a specific holiday, as well as relieving crowding in our picture book section.
Juvenile Fiction Audiobooks
Last year we created a juvenile fiction section on our first floor to accommodate students who are reading at a 3rd or 4th grade level but need books whose content is better suited to younger readers. We have now mirrored this in our audiobooks.
Our Juvenile Fiction Audiobook section is located on the first floor and has books that younger students can enjoy. If you're going on a family roadtrip with young kids, this is a great place to look!
