Behind the Desk

Hi, I'm Erica. One of your librarians at MCDS. The new year is a great time to get to know each other better. I'm giving an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at my desk in the library so you can get to know me better. 

​You'll notice a lot of dragons. Our story room is called the dragon room, and it has a history of attracting dragons. You can read more about our big dragons made by alums and see a stop motion video of one being made here.

My favorite animal is the gorilla, I love Doctor Who (can you see the dalek?), and I identify with Piglet. I go to Scotland every summer and I love seeing the special Highland Cows there, so I got a mini one for my desk. I'm a quarter Swedish and I got the Dala horse and little witch while visiting there a couple summers ago.

Hi, I'm Tessa, one of your librarians too!  This is a view of my desk in the workroom behind the check-out desk.  The two horses were made by Don, the head of maintenance, from parts he took from my file cabinet. I love horses and have spent many happy hours riding. The hedgehog is one of my favorite animals in stories.  Years ago a parent gave me the action figure on the bulletin board...you pull the lever and her finger goes to her lips in a shushing motion. We thought is was so funny since we would never do that in the library. You will also see one of my favorite quotes.
