​Make read aloud time your favorite part of the day!

Research has shown that children who are read to have a well developed vocabulary. A child can listen to books that they could not read independently. Books allow you to share important topics that will enrich their social and emotional development, such as friendship, prejudice and empathy.  Most importantly, it is a sweet time to connect with your child for some quiet relaxation.

Here are some classics to get you started. Check out the summer reading lists for more suggestions. Your child may be ready to be read books on the next higher list.
